International Health Immersion Program

The International Health Immersion Program is a unique opportunity for all health care students, residents in medicine, and health care professionals already in the work place to receive a hands on learning experience in the country of Guatemala. Participants learn from and work with community-based health workers in Guatemala for three weeks and will be exposed to many different cases of tropical medicine, clinical time, health education, water programs, environmental programs, and women’s health (including midwifery). Health professionals from the United States are on staff in the field and can serve as preceptors for university patient care credit and can sign off on clinical time and procedure logs.
